Magnificat: Holy is His Name (Luke 1:46-55) Copyright © 2013 Becka deHaan My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; Because of God my Savior, my spirit is glad; For he’s favoured me in my lowliness; And from now on my name will with honour be clad. For the mighty God has done great things for me; With mercies from age to age. And… Chorus: Holy, holy is his name; Holy, holy is his name; He has mercy to forbear All generations everywhere; So holy is his name. He has shown his power and his glory, Knocking proud and mighty kings from their thrones; And lifted the meek and the lowly, Till they praise the Lord in grateful tones; Lifting the needy right out from the ashes Seat them way up in the princes’ wing; He’s filled the hungry with a good, good feast, Sent the rich away without a thing. [Chorus] [Interlude] Surely the Lord has not forgotten us; No, he has neither slumbered nor slept; But he has remembered the promise he made, A promise he has faithfully kept. O, he has come to help his servant Israel, Showing her his steadfast love; His word to Abraham is true to this day: With descendants as the stars above! Oh! [Choir Chorus.] Oo, oo, I’m talkin’ ‘bout the tender mercy! Holy is his name. He has mercy to forebear All generations everywhere; So holy is his name, The name above all names (holy is his name.) I’ll say it one more time Holy is his name!

Gotta Make a Way Copyright © 2020 Becka deHaan I wish I had been wiser, I wish I'd brought more oil; My lamp has left me sitting in the dark. But going to the store might make me miss the banquet, And I don't think I could face something so stark. I know the Bridegroom is coming soon; Lord, don't let me lose my poise. I'll rise up ‘neath the moon-lit sky, Dancing and making a joyful noise! Chorus: Gotta make a way, gotta make a highway; Rough places plain, and straighten crooked pathways; Lift valley high, bring mount and hill low; Sound the trumpet, beat the drum, Hear Bride and Spirit say, "Come!" By now I could have gone for oil, and I could have made it back; The birds have started cheering the dawn. But even in the light of day, I won't sit back and be idle; I gotta keep the music groovin' on. To hail that bright moment all flesh shall see together When Your glory is revealed; From the housetop I'm calling out, "He's on final approach, so let's clear the field!" [Chorus] So clap your hands and sing it strong; He could come before the end of this song! [Chorus x2]

Wet Wet World Copyright © 2012, revised 2017 Becka deHaan Here it comes, another Monday storm; Showing up on the radar, so it’s true; Showing up in just enough time to warn: Gotta get your pets in, two by two. The sky is set to soak Both the town and country folk In repair bills. And water to the brim So sink or swim We’re living in, a wet, wet world. London wearing snowflakes like a robe; Cars in Pennsylvania hitting black ice; Weather stations all across the globe Saying, “Better stay inside, it’s not one bit nice.” Tsunami in Japan Brings an economic plan, back to square 1. So gasp and gape; It’s taking shape; You can’t escape, this wet, wet world. For forty days the earth you smote With all kinds of H2O; Now here we are, in that same boat, What happened to the rainbow! People calling long-distance on Skype; Going, “How’s the weather where you are?” But now that question ain’t the small-talk type; ‘Cause they say, “finally we can see the sun and stars.” Down on through the aftermath Help each other on the path, to recovery; All together let's work tonight At each flood site From depth to height of this wet, wet world. Even so, Lord, come and right Our wrongful plight And reunite Reunite this wet, wet world.

Hold Your Head Up Copyright © 1993, 2015; Lyric by Eric Till (1947-2014) and Becka deHaan; Music by Becka deHaan When troubled times they come along, Don't give up, just stay strong. Things will work out, you'll see. Life’s so precious like gold; There's always a friend in trust you can hold, Standing by faithfully. Chorus: Hold your head up, Hold your head up high; Hold your head up, Hold your head up high. For whom is your hope? In whom your pride? Keep your loved ones by your side, And soar as you watch them take flight. Don't shorten your steps, and when you stumble and fall Don’t let yourself stay in the darkness to crawl; Rise, walk up into the light, To the light, oh… [Chorus] [Interlude] [Chorus x2] When troubled times they come along; Don’t give up, just stay strong; Things will work out, you’ll see

The Honeybee blues Copyright © 2010 Becka deHaan, Revised 2015 Well it’s a bitter night in February, gotta be minus thirty-five; And I’ve been rustling way too long here in the comfort of the hive. There ain’t no plants a-growin’, and Lord knows I need a snooze; Guess I caught a winter case of… Got a little honeybee blues. I can feel you in the mid-May sky, your magnetic power; It’s the sweetest taste of heaven, drawing nectar from your flower; And your bloom gets brighter and brighter, like I was your best news. Oh, I thank the Lord for saving me From the honeybee blues. [Break.] Now the queen begins a-buzzing, she says, “We gotta show we care, For everyone who comes knocking, even the growling bear. Well I know some will hate us, but they love what we produce. So let’s all give them some, you know we’ve got nothing to lose. So let them in, and don’t be stinging them with the honeybee blues; I said, let them in, and then nobody’s singing Those honeybee blues.”

I Will Be Still (Psalm 46:10 and Psalm 131) Copyright © 2014 Becka deHaan I don’t try to reach up ten feet high When I’m only five feet tall; Mysteries remain a mystery; And I don’t mind at all. Let the marvelous, the wonderful, keep me full of wondering; Otherwise there’s no such thing as trust; Some things I’m not made to understand, I have just… Chorus: To be still, like a child with its mother; In a great storm, off to sleep I will nod; I will be still with a calm like no other; I will be still, knowing you are God. I will be still. I will be still. Nine years old and crawling down the stairs, Shrieking with the smoke alarm; Or choking on water, way out on the lake; It feels too much like real harm. But on our stone front porch, Mom holds me on the couch; Now all I hear is the beating of her heart. All fear subsides, and my body can relax its every part… Chorus: ’Cause I’m still, as a child with her mother; In a great storm, off to sleep I will nod; I will be still with a calm like no other; I will be still, knowing you are God; I will be still. I will be still. How the mother hen longs to gather her chicks under her wings and away from the sword; Throw down your armour, o Israel, put your hope, your only hope, in the Lord! And be still… [Interlude] We will be still with a calm like no other; We will be still, knowing you are God. We will be still; We will be still; We will be still.

He Shall Feed His Flock like a Shepherd Music by G. F. Handel; libretto by Charles Jennens, 1741 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd; And he shall gather the lambs with his arm, With his arm; And carry them in his bosom And gently lead those that are with young; And gently lead, And gently lead those that are with young. Come unto him, all ye that labour; Come unto him, that are heavy-laden, And he will give you rest. Take his yoke upon you and learn of him; For he is meek and lowly of heart; And ye shall find rest And ye shall find rest unto your souls. Take his yoke upon you and learn of him; For he is meek and lowly of heart; And ye shall find rest And ye shall find rest... Unto your souls.

It is Well with My Soul Lyric by Horatio Spafford; music by Phillip Bliss When peace, like a river, attendeth my way; When sorrows like sea billows roll; Whatever my lot, thou hast taught me to say: It is well, it is well with my soul. Chorus: It is well (it is well) With my soul (with my soul); It is well, it is well with my soul. Though Satan should buffet, and trials should come; Let this blessed assurance control: That Christ has regarded my helpless estate, And has shed his own blood for my soul. [Chorus] My sin, o the bliss of this glorious thought, My sin not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more; Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, o my soul! [Chorus] And Lord, haste the day when my faith shall be sight, The clouds be rolled back as a scroll; The trump shall resound, and the Lord shall descend; Even so, it is well with my soul. [Chorus]

about

With "Calming Trust and Coming King," Becka deHaan invites listeners to join her in a still-yet-excited readiness for the soon return of Christ. It depicts the collective human longing for His Second Coming, and it exhibits an eagerness to prepare the way for it in the here and now. Tracks such as her original ballad, "I will be Still," and her cover of Fernando Ortega's "No One Else" demonstrate that trust in God's sovereign timing in coming back can genuinely calm one's soul in the midst of whatever adversity one may face. Book-ended by deHaan's own upbeat, Gospel setting to the Magnificat and a powerful, piano-and-voice rendering of the traditional hymn, "It is Well with my Soul," this album resonates deep hope and calls both Spirit and Bride to say, "Come" (see Rev. 22:17).
